Done and done.

I love the olympics.
I love my country.
I love the competition.

Now the games are over.
For another few years.
And despite all the complaining from everyone (and I agree with some of it), I still love the unification and patriotism that the games bring. And I love the people who take a positive look at what they bring instead of just focusing on all the bad stuff.

What fun watching the Hockey game today.
What a great way to end the games.

And...
I might actually like hockey just a little bit after seeing Ms. Wickenheiser and Mr. Crosby in action. They both seem like true Canadians to me -- incredible at what they do and incredibly humble with their heads on straight.

YAYYYYYYYYYY CANADA!!! Thanks for two great weeks.

Inspiration... (or Procrastination Be Damned!)

I don't know if was the beautiful winter blue sky today, or my sixty year old parents who are more fit than me, or the family olympics we had on Sunday (hosted of course by VANOC -Van Aertselaer Olympic Committee!)...but when my parents called up to see if Becky and I wanted to go skiing in the park this afternoon, I couldn't resist. I did have a bunch of excuses lined up(work, chores, laziness, you know...the usual) but decided to seize the moment. Boy, I'm glad I did. Even though my ski shoes were too big, even though I was the slowest one out of the four of us, even though I wore WAY too many layers, even though I left tons of work at home to be done...it was good. And the best part? My dad sent(ie.was trying to get rid of them!)home two pairs of ski's and poles so we could ski down the river, just three houses away from us. And though I know certain muscles will hurt tomorrow, I'm hoping for this to become at least a weekly outing.

This past week I got TWO parking tickets.
TWO!!!
I NEVER get parking tickets.

I thought about fighting them, excuses whirling through my brain, but when it comes down to it, I know it's just my own stupid fault. So I've come up with some 'punishments' for myself. No movies, no shopping, no gas. I'll have to survive off of my bus tickets, gift certificates and the groceries I've got. I think after a week and a half of that, I'll have made up for the $85 I've paid.

Maybe I should rent, "The Delicate Art of Parking" during my... confinement.
